Simply put, if you have a J-arm (thats the bar that you see the garage shield attaching to in the pictures), then yes, it will work. Don't be fooled by the simplicity. The design is lightweight enough not to break your garage door opener, but still stop a wire hanger. Under normal circumstances, it may take local law enforcement up to 15-20 minutes to respond to a burglary.

If zip ties were a good idea, the owners manual would tell you to use them. But it doesn't! Zip Ties can trap you, a loved one, or other person in your garage during a fire or other emergency. The news media has been criticized for advocating zip ties because they block emergency exists and put homeowners at risk. This device is recommended by the garage door industry and both law enforcement and fire.

Insurance companies need a sign of "Forced Entry", or they will assume you were complacent in the criminal activity (aka insurance fraud). Without a Broken Window, Kicked in Door, or other evidence, Police may leave thinking it was a false alarm.
Services
The Garage Shield device is a simple, easy-to-use, and affordable device that installs on the track of your garage door to prevent the 6-second break-in.
Like many fathers, the inventor sought a way to provide additional security for his young children, while not disrupting the existing security features (rope release) of the garage door opener.
Moreover, we were seeking a simple solution that anyone can install, including the 90 year old women down the street That in part, is why our product is made from plastic: not only is it rust proof and wont rattle off the moving opener, but it doesn't require metal parts to fasten it into place aka No tools are required for installation.
This is not required, because a criminal is attempting to catch the metal latch, not the rope (the rope is too difficult to reach).
The rope doesn't matter.
The criminal can not easily catch the rope, it's too hard to do.
They are trying to hook the metal latch the rope is attached too (it's stable and doesn't move around).
More importantly, you need to keep the rope hanging within access to 6 feet above the ground, to be complaint with regulations.
Do NOT over-tighten the screw!
It only needs to be held in place, not over tightened till it bulges out and mis-aligns the shield.
The Barn Door is not Compatible.
The Garage Shield is only compatible with the Modern Sectional Style garage door with an automatic opener.
The Roll Up Door is not Compatible.
The Flip up or Tilt Door, is not Compatible.
SOME low cost Wayne Dalton doors and a few very expensive Jack door openers DO NOT have J-arms.
The typical garage door break in takes less than a few minutes, with some as quick as 6 seconds.
The Garage Shield is a simple, durable, reliable break in deterrent shield, that inhibits the ability for a simple coat hook from accessing the release mechanism and/or emergency rope on the garage opener track assembly.
Your garage door is a crucial part of your home security.
It's also the largest entry way to your home.
If an intruder gains easy access to your garage, everything inside is vulnerable.
If you haven't taken basic precautions for your garage door, your home itself may be vulnerable to the 6 second break-in (6-second break-in).
This 6-second break-in is a garage door break-in that exploits or hacks a weakness in your release system.
The release system disengages your overhead door from your opener so that it can be used during a power outage.
Due to a high volume of interest in our product (and being a small operation) we cannot provide support by phone.
For support, please contact us by chat or email so we can most efficiently address your concern.
This helps us both, as you can then share images or specific details along with your support question.
Note: No Security Solution, Anywhere, is 100% effective.
A criminal knowing the Garage Shield exists can plan to circumvent it.
Take precautions by keeping garage door windows covered, and not bragging to strangers about your security system.
